Koolphen® K Phenolic Insulation
Koolphen® K insulation products are idealIy suited for use within:
  • Commercial buildings
  • Hospitals
  • Government buildings
  • Food and drink processing industries
  • Pharmaceutical industry
  • Industrial applications

Specified successfully for over a decade, Koolphen® K is proven in commercial, institutional and process environments around the world - from breweries in the U.K. and hospitals in Oman, to hotels in Hong Kong and many prestigious projects in the U.S. In fact around the world literally tens of thousands of miles of pipework have been insulated with Koolphen® K.

Lowest K factor

Koolphen® K exhibits the lowest K factor of any standard insulation materiah The thinness of the product makes it ideal for pipe and ductwork insulation where space savings can reduce costs significantly.

A constant K factor means constant efficiency - now and for the expected life of the building.

The Koolphen® K range of phenolic foam insulation products is designed for the thermal insulation of pipework, dusting, tanks and vessels for HVAC, process, and industrial applications.

The range can be used to insulate surfaces operating within the temperature range -290°F to +250°F, and has been developed to provide optimum performance with regard to insulation efficiency, fire resistance, low smoke emission, environmental safety and cost.

Koolphen® K is manufactured from BP Chemicals Cellobond k phenolic resin which is converted into a rigid bun. Computer controlled profilers cut a diverse range of boardstock and cut pipe sections from this bun to enable you to specify confidently for standard and site-specific applications.

The closed cell structure of Koolphen® K prevents "wicking" and preserves the performance and integrity of the insulation system over long periods of time. This property is particularly valuable in humid conditions where moisture build-up can compromise the performance of lesser materials.

Excellent fire performance and low smoke emission

Koolphen® K exceeds the industry standard of 25/50 under ASTM E - 84. (It actually has the lowest spread of flame and smoke generation index of ail plastic foam insulation materials.)

In the event of fire, it will not melt or drip, and it exhibits extremely low smoke emission - buying valuable time for safe evacuation.

CFC-free

Koolphen- K is manufactured without the use of CFCs.

Chemical resistance

Koolphen° K is resistant to a wide range of oils, solvents and chemicals, a factor which maintains its physical integrity in adverse conditions and hostile environments.

Ease of application

Koolphen® K is lightweight and easy to cut, handle and install. Pipe sections, curved segments, fittings, bends and pipe supports can be manufactured to order using high-tech profile cutters and routing machines.

Pipe supports

High-density Koolphen® K pipe supports are available for load-bearing applications which, in combination with the standard material, maintains the integrity of the insulation system.

Ductwork insulation

A wide range of Koolphen K products is available for the insulation of air conditioning ductwork.

Koolphen® K meets the requirements of CAN/ULC-S102-M88 Surface Burning Characteristics of Building Materials and ULC-S127-M1988 Standard Corner Wall Method of test for Flammability as tested and listed at UL of canada.

Koolphen® K CFC-Free phenolic insulation meets or exceeds the requirements of Type II and III Grade 1 according to ASTM C 1126-98 (standard specification for faced or unfaced rigid cellular phenolic thermal insulation).
